It seems like a lifetime ago that we posted the first set of drawings for LaunchPad Coworking at the 800 Brazos location. Everything has evolved, of course, as everything does. We made some decisions to save money. We made other decisions to be green, or based on market research. Sometimes we made choices based on our gut instincts. At heart, though, the plans for LPC have remained true to our vision.
The rendering above was done in early February of 2008 by our outstanding architect, Murray Legge. Much has changed since then — the ends of the stationary tables will have “standard” table legs so the mobile desks can be pushed up flush at the end. The rendering doesn’t show the chase along the wall that provides outlets and ethernet drops for each person. Nor does it show the individual task lighting or the ergonimic chairs.
It does, however, show the intent of the space.
Every Wednesday afternoon we have a construction meeting at LPC. Sometimes we discuss the position of electrical outlets. Sometimes it’s general structural issues or scheduling issues. Today’s meeting happened to coincide with the arrival of the millworkers bringing in a sample of the casework. What timing!
It’s beautiful. It’s plywood with a satin finish maple veneer. I can’t wait for this to be the place I go to work :)

Looks like a lot of work Julie. I’m sure you have to pace yourself, but more than likely you crash and burn at night. I can only imagine what you’re going through. But it’s going to be an awesome space and I’m excited for you!
