We’ve been under construction for over a month now, and progress has been really great. The ceiling is a maze of ductwork, most of the plumbing is in place, and now that we’ve started framing, electricity isn’t far off. Lots of the work isn’t immediately visible — structural supports were put in on the floor below us to prepare for the weight of the sky room, and guys have been hanging on ropes in the elevator shafts to run ventilation to the roof.
Of course we’ve run into some… oh, let’s just call them challenges. Unexpected structural beams, frozen AC units, little-know city codes… But all that is to be expected when renovating an old building with no as-built drawings. We tweak, we rearrange, we freeze water pipes with liquid nitrogen, and we re-submit plans as necessary.
Our time-lapse cameras continue to snap a photo every 15 minutes. Tori periodically checks to make sure they’re operating properly, and gives us a sample movie — here’s the latest one. I’ve even started a YouTube channel for all our videos. And of course be sure to keep an eye on our Flickr set. I post new pictures there pretty regularly.
We’re still on track to be done late in October, too. It’s going to be a crazy busy couple of months, that’s for sure.
