Murray calls it the louver. Tina calls it the sombrero. I call it the vault. What is it? It’s the ceiling in the LaunchPad cafe — the beautiful brainchild of Murray Legge, inspired by Shigeru Ban — built to shield our view of the drab cubicles upstairs, but let in the natural light from the skylights.
Below are a couple of screenshots captured from a flythrough of the Google Sketchup file containing renderings of the architecture at LaunchPad Coworking. Granted, I’m biased, but I find these images quite beautiful.

Who’s your architect?
btw, I couldn’t find a contact info #/e-mail anywhere on this site. How do people contact you?

Hello there,
I just found your site and have found out there’s a word for what I want to do — co-work! I really love my work — blogging for several web sites, etc. — and I love my home office. But I am most creative when I am functioning as part of a community. I’m very excited about what your building and what you are building. Until the space is open, could you recommend a place in Austin to co-work?

Hi Debi -
I’m so glad you found us! There are a couple possibilities for you in Austin.
Every Friday at Cafe Caffeine there’s Jelly. It’s very casual coworking — basically a bunch of people show up there to work together. It’s free.
Then there’s Conjunctured, which is opening a coworking space early next month. They’re offering monthly memberships (we’re doing hourly/daily at LaunchPad). They’re great guys — check out their site for updates.
Good luck. Maybe I’ll see you at Jelly one of these days. If not, I’ll see you at LaunchPad Coworking in a few months!
